Economic Implications of Environmentally Smart System of Rice Intensification in Nigeria

Rice is a staple food in almost all parts of the world, especially Africa and Asia, as rich source carbohydrate. However, rice cultivation contributes greatly to climate change through emission greenhouse gases involved soil plant management, fertiliser application well water management practices.
 
 While environmental benefits environmentally smart farming practices Nigeria have been established, same has not for economic implications farming.
 Prior this study, there was inadequate information on profit margins different production systems Nigeria. The research aimed at understanding evaluating method that gives higher margin while having lesser impact.
 study’s primary sources require two distinct methodologies such, major types data collection methods; qualitative quantitative suitable participatory action viz: questionnaire, focus group discussion, participant observation key informant interview. findings demonstrate environmentally-smart system intensification more profitable than conventional method.
